University of Massachusetts School of Law-Dartmouth Professionalism Contract

The Career Services Office is committed to all graduates' ethical and professional development in their legal careers and as such each graduate is expected to adhere to certain rules and responsibilities that promote ethics and professionalism in the recruiting and job search process.
Carefully review each of the following Career Services Office policies and professionalism standards and check the affirmation at the end to indicate your agreement to follow them.

□ I understand that as a graduate I am preparing to enter a profession in which I will be held to high ethical standards as well as a strict code of professional conduct and responsibility.
□ I understand that honesty and integrity throughout the recruiting and job search process reflect on my character and fitness to practice law and failure to uphold high standards could negatively impact my ability to become licensed to practice law.
□ I agree to provide accurate and honest information on all resumes and other materials provided for the purpose of securing employment, including my profile and resume on the Symplicity database, and further agree to uphold high standards of honesty and integrity in the interview process. If I am unsure about how to characterize an item on my resume or in an interview, I will consult with the Career Services Office for guidance prior to submitting materials or interviewing.
□ I agree to attend all interviews I obtain through the efforts of the Career Services Office, its job posting services and its other additional resources. If an emergency prevents me from attending an interview, I will promptly notify both the potential employer as well as the Career Services Office. In the case of a missed interview or late cancellation, I will send a letter of apology to the employer and provide a copy of the letter to the Career Services Office. I understand that missing multiple interviews may result in the suspension of certain of my privileges with respect to the Career Services Office and further understand that should my privileges be suspended I must meet with the Director of Legal Career Services to discuss whether my privileges can be reinstated.
□ I agree that I will not renege once I have accepted an offer of employment from an employer, and further agree that once I have accepted an offer of employment I will withdraw all pending applications and cease seeking employment or entertaining other offers of employment.
□ I agree that once I sign up for off-campus job fairs and events, including those for which the Career Services Office pays a registration fee on my behalf, I will follow through and attend absent extenuating circumstances. If an extenuating circumstance prevents me from attending an off-campus job fair or event I will promptly notify the Career Services Office and understand that my failure to attend could result in the fees paid on my behalf being assessed to me.
□ I agree to calendar and keep my appointments with the Career Services Office and to notify promptly the Career Services Office if a conflict arises with respect to a scheduled appointment.
□ I am aware that email is the main form of communication used by the Career Services Office to notify me of important information regarding job postings, job fairs and events, and other career-related resources, and agree to check my email account regularly to remain informed of all such Career Services Office activities.
□ I agree to provide the Career Services Office information regarding my employment status requested in surveys or otherwise so that the Career Services Office may comply with its reporting requirements.
□ I agree to act in a professional manner and be courteous and respectful in my dealings with employers, networking contacts, the Career Services Office and all other law school personnel, as well as my fellow graduates.
□ I agree to accept responsibility for my job search, career and professional development, and to act with ethics and integrity in the job and career search process.
